The chapter was named for the French explorer, Count Pierre LeMoyne d'Iberville, who, with his brother, Bienville, explored the area in 1699. The Parish of Iberville was created on March 31, 1807, and named for Iberville. Iberville was later the first governor of Louisiana.
The Iberville Chapter of the Louisiana Daughters of the American Revolution was founded on October 10, 1980, in Plaquemine, Louisiana.
Several chapter members have distinguished themselves. Mrs. Lois Guitreaux won a national award for her history essay. Recently, Rita Lynn Jackson won a national award for her essay in the heritage contest. Two of Jackie Johnson's children, Claire and Thomas, held the position of Louisiana State President of the C.A.R. and Jackie is the Senior State President of C.A.R. The chapter also had two outstanding junior members: Rita Lynn Jackson and Jackie Johnson. Mary Elizabeth Sanders (now deceased) was on Mrs. Barbara de la Houssaye's team, Barbara is an Honorary State Regent, and the current state historian is member Sue Blanchard, of whom we are very proud.
